NSS – Programme-28th of June 2019>
The NSS unit of St. Joseph’s Arts and Science College for Women Conducted a motivational programme on Tips for Hygienic Life on 28th of June 2019. Ms. Pradeepa Melba, Psychologist, Primary Health Centre, Melaisivapuri delivered the keynote address. She motivated the students to live a stress-free life and that will cure most of the problems in Human Organs. She highlighted the causes and symptoms of Cancer especially Breast Cancer and other infectious and contagious diseases. She encouraged students to lead an optimistic life and elaborated her ideas with the number of small anecdotes. The NSS Co-ordinator Ms. Sutha, Assistant Professor of Mathematics welcomed the gathering. Sr. Principal honoured the Chief Guest with the memento. The programme, on the whole, generated a positive vibration among the students.Yoga Programme- 11 & 12th of July 2019.
A twodays special yoga training programme was organized by the Management for students and faculty members on 11 and 12th of July 2019 in the college premises. The well- known veteran in the field of yoga Mr. Pargunan, Former News Reader in All India Radio taught various exercises, Yogasanas and Pranayamas. Students were given a logical and scientific facts and benefits on doing the aasanaseveryday. The two days session was an eye opener for students with breathing trouble, joint pain, back pain and menstruation problem. The importance of meditation and Kayakalpa practice were also insisted in the programme. The feedback given by students as well as the faculty members proved that the training session has energized the spirit of them.NSS- Awareness Camp on 10th August, 2019
The NSS Unit of St. Joseph’s Arts and Science College for Women organized a one day awareness camp in its adopted village KottaiVengappatti on 10th August 2019. The camp aims at celebrating the harmful facts of SeemaiKaruvelam (Prosopis Juliflora) and Plastics to the village people. Rev. Sr. Principal presided over the camp. The people in the village were explained how Karuvelam dries up the water bodies and increases water crisis. Students have enacted skits, sang songs and delivered speech explaining how the plant absorbs ground water as well as humidity from the environment. Students along with the villagers uprooted karuvelam trees in the pond of the village. It has been unanimously decided not to plastics for any domestic purposes and to remove the horrible tree from the houses of the villagers and to give away useful saplings to them to be planted in their houses.NSS Day – 24th September, 2021
St. Joseph’s Arts and Science College for Women in collaboration with the Lion’s Club, Singampunari observed NSS Day on 24th September 2021 in the College campus. The meeting was headed by Mr.Ambalamuthu, Ex.Chairman, Singampunari. Ln.Agri.Karunagarn, President, Ln.G.Venkadesh Prabhu , Secretary, Ln.S.Sethupandian , Treasurer graced the occasion and other members of the Lion’s Club graced the occasion. Totally 30 Neem Sapplings were donated by the club members and they were planted in the College ground. On the Same day, ‘Cook without fire ‘event was organized and the students from all departments eagerly took part in it. The management of St. Joseph’s Arts and Science College for Women organized a programme on “Siddha Medicine” in order to commemorate the Nationwide Golden Jubilee Year of NSS on 24th September, 2019 in the college premises. The recipient of Gold medal from Government of Tamil Nadu,Dr. S. Saravanan, Primary Health Centre, Piranmalai was the Chief Guest of this function. The guest, in his address stated that an individual is a microcosm of the Universe. The human body consists of the five PanchaBootha elements and three humours namely Vatha, Pitta and Kapha. He also explained the roll of food and medicine in human body, the theory of Fractals or Self-similarity. The easiest siddha remedies for most of the common ailments of women were explained. Mr. Mathiahagan, Health Inspector, Primary Health Centre, Piranmalai gave a lecture on the ’12 most common additives’ that we should avoid in our food. Both the faculty members and students were highly benefitted through this programme.Students enacted a skit emphasizing the eminency of the traditional medical system and sand songs insisting youngsters to protect nature and natural resourses.32ndNational Road Safety Week celebrations-30th January 2021
The management of St. Joseph’s Arts and Science College for Women organized an awareness programme on Road Safety under the guidance of The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways and Alagappa University on 30th January 2021 in the college premises to commemorate the 32nd National Road Safety Week Celebrations. The meeting was graced with the presence of Mr.S.Manoharan , Traffic Inspector, Singampunari, Mr.C.Janaki Raman, Traffic Sub-Inspector, Mr. T. Jegannath, & Mr. A. Gunasekaran ,Traffic Head Constables, and a team of traffic officers.
The Chief Guest in his address vividly explained the traffic rules and the way how people can save themselves from maddening vehicles. He asked students to insist their parents at home and neighbours to wear seat belt while travelling by car and wear helmet while riding a bike. He also briefed the steady increase of the production and distribution of vehicles and the increase of death rates due to fatal accidents. The Traffic Sub Inspector Mr.C. Janaki Raman, in his address, highlighted the importance of keeping License, FC, Insurance and Speed Controlling Device and the need to follow the traffic rules. An awareness video on the importance of wearing seatbelt was shown to students. The meeting was presided over by Rev. Sr. Principal of St.Joseph’s Arts and Science College for Women, Singampunari. The interactive session held at the end of the programme was really an eye opener to all the participants of the programme.Awareness Camp on National Leprosy Eradication Day-, 12February 2021
An awareness camp on National Leprosy Eradication Day (initiated by SPARSH- Social Innovative Programme for Products: Affordable and Relevant to Social Health) was organized by the NSS of the Institution in collaboration with PWD of Sivagangai and Piranmalai Primary Health Centre on 12th February 2021 at 11 a.m. in the college premises. The meeting was graced with the august presence of Dr. M. Sivagami, MS DDVL, Deputy Director Medical Services, Sivagangai, Dr. M. Nafeesa Banu, Regional Medical Officer, Piranmalai, Mr.Thirupathi Raj, Mr. Chandrasekaran, Mr. Muthu Ramalingam, District Leprosy Eradication Officers, Sivagangai, Mr. V. JeyaRaman, Mr. Thinakaran, Mr. Mathiyarasu, Primary Health Centre Officers, Piranmalai.Dr. M. Sivagami, MS DDVL, Deputy Director Medical Services, Sivagangai, in her special address explained the need of knowing some basic ideas about Leprosy as it has been started to spread swiftly in India. She also highlighted the cause of spread and symptoms of the disease. She had also explained the free of cost Multi Drug Therapy (MDT), which is considered as an effective and a powerful tool in curing leprosy in a year, offered by World Health Organization to all endemic countries. Mr. Muthu Ramalingam, District Leprosy Eradication Officer, Sivagangai told that a leprosy afflicted person is given a monthly stipend, slippers, blankets and medical kits at regular intervals by the Government of Tamilnadu. The Management of St. Joseph’s Arts and Science College for Women in collaboration with Singampunari Taluk Office organized a dual function ‘Women’s Day and Election Awareness Campaign’ on 8th March, 2021. A Demo Polling Booth (Model Polling Booth) was set in the college premise so as to help the first-time voters to have an idea of the voting procedure. A video was also screened on explaining the norms, procedures and importance of voting. Various competitions highlighting ‘Election’ as a theme, such as Rangoli, Quiz, Drawing, etc were conducted. The meeting was graced by Mrs. Sindhu, District Revenue Officer, Sivagangai, Deputy Collector of Sivagangai, Thirunavukkarasu, Thasildar, Singampunari. Yoga Programme- 6th December 2021
The Management organized ‘a KayaKalpa’ Practical session on 6th December 2021, on Monday at 10.00 am in the college auditorium. Dr.Selvaraj, Homeopathy Clinic, Karaikudi game an elaborate discussion on the day to day physical problems faced by women. He trained students in Kayakalpa – a Clinical Remedy to all ailments of women. He explained the Aswini Mudra and its positive impact on human body and the way how food can be consumed and energy absorbed in all parts of the body. Rev.Sr.Principal welcomed and honoured the guest.
